Bye-bye Lucy and Ruger's Puppies ... Welcome Zoey's Litter!!!

Lucy and Ruger's puppies are all in their new homes now (except for Remington who is staying here with us!)  Here are a couple of Lucy's puppies before they went to their new homes …

And now, I am very happy to announce, Zoey has had a litter of 8 puppies!

There are 4 boys and 4 girls.

All of them are reserved. 

Normally they are not in such a small pen. I had just washed all of them and Zoey apparently decided it was time for them to nurse!

  

I think this is the little boy... it is hard to tell them apart right now.

This morning I went out to check on the puppies and two of them left the huddle they were part of … they tottered over and curled up by my hands that were in the pen opening.  I was so surprised:)  They are so little, can hardly get around and their eyes are just opening!

Uzzi Is Available!

Meet Uzzi!  This was one of the puppies from Ruger's August 10th litter but this is his second time to be on the blog.  He was one of the puppies in the one week pictures but just before two weeks, he started showing symptoms of ringworm, which then turned into another bacterial skin infection (rods).  From two weeks on, this sweet fellow looked simply pitiful!

Here's what happened: Ruger had her litter four days before her due date and I had not yet moved her into the whelping area.  So what does she do?  My sweet wonderful dog whom I love dearly decides to not have her puppies in the nice doghouse, but to dig out a hole in the dirt underneath and birth the first two there.  One of the two was a chocolate male who unfortunately was smothered when he was a couple days old :(  The other, I have no doubt, was Uzzi … especially when our vet explained that the rods bacteria thrives in moist soil.

So anyway, I held off on selling him and just focused on trying to get rid of the infection. He was very patient as our vet had us try different treatments … rods is a hard infection to fight, especially in young puppies.  I guess it was all the interaction and attention that made him such a nice puppy!  He never acted "sick" and as he got older he developed an amazing temperament and personality.  He is very intelligent and is actually more submissive and obedient than his sister Remi who I'm keeping - if he were a female, I would have kept him instead! (Shhh, don't tell her!)

After a recent exam, our vet feels confident that he is now clear of the infection and only has a little scar tissue left which is quickly disappearing … you can see this on his face in the pictures and he also has a couple spots on his back that are barely visible - I can send pictures if you would like to see. He is now looking for his new home! The price is reduced to $400 because his hair is not completely back to normal, but it should be very soon. He will come with full AKC registration, health guarantee, vet exam, and he is up to date on vaccines and deworming. He is very affectionate and will make an incredible companion.

Lucy's Puppies at Four Weeks

The puppies are doing very well, and are becoming quite playful and affectionate.  They went to the vet the other day and all checked out very healthy.  Here are some recent pictures … ladies first.

 She is the biggest puppy in the litter, weighing just over 6 pounds.

Dolly is reserved.

She was not very playful until the day her new owners came to pick her out ...

... ever since then, she has become so cute, playful and ready for attention! I guess she was just waiting for them!
